Can the same equipment be used to measure long and short braking action?



Decelerometers measure the "g" force, or lock-wheel braking action, of a short section of the runway and are meant for contaminated surface conditions (Winter).

CFMEs measure "mu," or tire-to-runway braking friction, for continuous measurement in contaminate (Winter) and maintenance (Summer) testing. CFMEs provide values for the entire distance of runway.
